Use case

Instagram API for UGC Collection and Brand Mention Monitoring

Customers tag your account, use your hashtag or talk beneath a post. Combine those three public surfaces or your UGC library will reflect only the one you happened to check.

The problem

Instagram API for UGC and brand monitoring: the problem.

A brand wants the photos customers took of its product: for the shop page, for paid social, for a wall in the office. Those posts scatter across the tagged feed, branded hashtags and comment threads under the brand's own posts. Checking one surface manually finds the loudest few and misses the long tail entirely.

The recipe

Endpoint workflow for Instagram API for UGC and brand monitoring.

The useful part of a use-case page is the translation from situation to endpoint. Here it is.

  1. 01Take the tagged feed firstPosts where someone tagged your account are the highest-intent UGC there is: the customer deliberately pointed at you. Poll it a few times a day and you have the backbone of the library before you touch anything else.Tagged Posts API
  2. 02Add hashtag coverage for the untagged majorityMost customers write the brand name as a tag and never tag the account. Run your branded tag, your campaign tag and the common misspellings, then de-duplicate against what the tagged feed already gave you.Hashtag Scraper
  3. 03Read the threads under it allComplaints, sizing questions and the actual buying intent live in comment threads rather than captions. Pull comments on your own posts and on the mentions you found, and route the negative ones to whoever answers them.Comments API

Budget

Credit estimate for Instagram API for UGC and brand monitoring.

A realistic daily job: the tagged feed four times a day is 4 credits, five hashtags four times a day is 20, and one page of comments on the twenty most-engaged mentions is 20. That is up to 44 successful calls a day, roughly 1,320 a month. Comment depth is the line that scales fastest, so cap pages per post and spend deeper pagination on the posts that matter.

FAQ

Instagram API for UGC and brand monitoring FAQ.

Can I republish the UGC I find here?

Finding a post and having the right to use it are separate things. We return public data; copyright in the photo stays with the person who took it, and Instagram's terms do not grant you a licence just because a post mentions you. Ask the creator, get the permission in writing, and keep the record. Every mature UGC programme has a rights-request step, and no API removes it.

How is this different from your social listening page?

Social listening is about the conversation in a category at large — topics, sentiment, share of voice. This is narrower and more operational: find the specific posts and photos that are about your brand, so you can respond to them or ask to use them.

Do I get the poster's email address?

No. We return only what the profile publishes, which for most personal accounts is nothing beyond the handle and bio. There is no email enrichment, and we do not infer contact details from other sources. Outreach happens in a DM you send yourself.

Can it monitor stories where someone mentions us?

The Stories API returns a public account's current stories, so you can poll accounts you already know about. There is no feed of every story that mentions you — that notification only exists inside the account owner's own app.
